What is a double hung window? A double hung window is similar to a single hung window but has two sashes, both of which are moveable. This makes them easy to clean while maintaining their user-friendly function. Double hung windows allow for more air circulation than single hung windows because they open from both the top and bottom, allowing hot stale air to exit at the top and cooler air to enter at the bottom. Double hung windows are an energy-efficient and cost-effective way to improve your home’s aesthetic value. At Weaver Exterior Remodeling, we offer a wide range of double-hung windows in different styles and materials to suit any home's design and budget. Our team of experts can help you select the perfect double-hung window to enhance the beauty and functionality of your home.

MAIN FEATURES
Energy Efficient
Double hung windows have exceptional energy efficiency and with several tinted and insulated glass options available, Weaver will help you save big on your energy bills. Insulated vinyl windows work hard to keep out the extreme cold of typical Barrie winters, and they seal out moisture during the humid summers. Double hung windows can improve your home’s energy efficiency without compromising natural light.
Easy Maintenance
When it comes to window maintenance, double hung windows cannot be beat. Like single hung window sashes, double hung window sashes tilt inward into your home. The difference is that with two moveable sashes, you can clean both sides of both window panes from inside your home. Vinyl windows can be installed in a range of colours that don’t fade over time or need to be repainted.
Match Your Decor
Double hung windows are great to install in areas of your home that have narrow walls. They make great use of vertical space by creating airflow and adding lots of natural light. Vinyl window components offer so many possibilities when it comes to matching your overall decor. Whether it’s texture or colour that you want to coordinate, we offer a large selection of classic colours and finishes that won’t go out of style.
Fully Welded Sash & Frame
Weaver windows are installed and engineered with a fully welded sash and frame. This adds structural support to the window and improves its overall longevity. Corner joints in window frames are the most common places for moisture to enter your home. With fully welded sash and frame windows, moisture and air leakage are prevented with a tight seal.

The Weaver Lifetime Warranty is how we go above and beyond to care for our customers.
COLOURS & GRILLES
Colours & Finishes
At Weaver we offer our clients a wide variety of colours and finishes for double hung vinyl windows to match both your style and decor. Our vinyl windows retain their vibrancy over time and they never need to be repainted. With many colour variants to choose from, you can select the best shade to match your interior and exterior trim.
Grilles
Window grilles are aluminum bars that run vertically and horizontally on window panes, to create patterns of small squares. On modern vinyl windows, grilles can help build your home’s overall aesthetic by creating an exterior pop of texture. Grilles can also be installed in a number of ways. For easy cleaning, they can be fitted inside the panes of glass or they can be removable. With Simulated Divided Lites, grilles are installed on both sides of the windowpane to create the look of multiple small square panes of glass without compromising the energy efficiency of the window.
GLASS & HARDWARE
Encore Handles
At Weaver we offer a wide range of Encore window hardware to protect your home. Encore Truth hardware is extremely user-friendly, requiring up to 33% less effort to operate. Encore window locks come in a variety of styles to match your aesthetic preferences and provide exceptional security.
Tinted Glass
Tinted window glass allows for natural light to enter your home and provides daytime privacy. Tinted glass controls the sun’s glare and reflects it outwards which reduces visibility from the exterior. Gray and bronze tinted glass creates the look of a modern vinyl window.
Climate Specialized
We know a thing or two about the extreme cold you can find in the Barrie area. At Weaver we offer cost-effective glass options for your home. Energy Advantage Low-E Glass has a high Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), meaning the glass retains and reflects a high amount of heat in the winter while preventing heat gain during the humid summer.
Obscure or Privacy Glass
Textured window glass options, such as frosted, satin or glue chip glass are great for basements or bathroom windows. Textured privacy glass provides permanent privacy regardless of exterior glare or interior light.
Double Glazing
We install a range of energy efficient glass options to help you reduce your home energy costs. Double glazed windows, as the name suggests, have two panes of glass instead of the standard single panes. Double glazed vinyl windows offer insulated protection against heat loss and condensation, as the panes is separated by a space bar and sealed. Double glazed windows are perfect for the harsh winters common in the greater Barrie area.
Argon or Krypton Gas Filled
Argon and Krypton are slow moving, colourless and odourless gases that can be used to fill the space between window panes. These non-toxic gases move slowly between the glass to reduce thermal heat transfer through the window. Argon or Krypton filled windows are a great way to improve your home’s overall energy efficiency.

Energy Star Ratings Criteria
The guidelines issued by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) known as the ENERGY STAR® Technical Specification for Residential Windows, Doors, and Skylights Sold in Canada is a crucial set of criteria that must be met by manufacturers to qualify for the ENERGY STAR initiative. These requirements are essential for ensuring that energy-efficient products are accessible to Canadian consumers, and that manufacturers are held accountable for their products' quality and efficiency. The specification outlines the necessary standards that residential windows, doors, and skylights must meet to be promoted as ENERGY STAR qualified in Canada. Manufacturers must comply with the specified criteria and sign an agreement with NRCan to be eligible for the ENERGY STAR label. For more details, refer to this article.
Energy Star Ratings by Region
Canada's climate zones are determined by the heating degree day (HDD) values, which are used to establish energy efficiency standards for buildings and products. The HDD values specified in the Model National Building Code (2010) are used to categorize various locations on a map. The purpose of these zones is to guarantee that buildings and products comply with the energy efficiency standards appropriate for their location, resulting in less energy consumption and less greenhouse gas emissions. You can find more information on this topic in a useful article here.
Energy Star Performance Search
In order for windows and doors to receive the ENERGY STAR certification, they must fulfill specific energy efficiency standards. The U-factor and Energy Rating (ER) are the two primary factors that determine this certification. The U-factor measures the amount of heat that escapes through the window or door, while the ER takes into account the passive solar heat gain and overall heat loss and air leakage of the product. Optimal energy efficiency is achieved through a lower U-factor and a higher ER. For further information, please consult this informative article.
Canadian Energy Efficiency Trends
The trend of adopting energy-efficient practices and technologies in Canada is on the rise among homeowners and businesses. The motivation behind this trend is to lower energy consumption and costs, while simultaneously promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. In order to encourage energy efficiency, the Canadian government has implemented programs and policies, including the Energy Efficiency Regulations, which outline minimum energy performance standards for different products. As technology advances and more people become aware of the advantages of energy efficiency, this trend is expected to continue. more...
FAQS
Are my windows custom size?
At Weaver we construct every window to your specific dimensions and preferences. So in a way, there are no “standard dimensions” and every window is custom. The only thing that’s standard is high quality.
How long will the window be missing after you take the old one out?
Typically it takes 5 minutes from the time the old window is removed and the new one is installed. After the insulation is secured around the new window, your nest is protected from the outside elements.
Can you replace my brick window sills without my window falling out?
Yes we can! The needed masonry work can be done under your existing window or door because windows and doors are actually fastened to the frame of your house, not the masonry. It's important however to keep an eye on the bricks around your doors and windows, as loose bricks are a safety concern.
How does the consultation process work?
After you request a quote from Weaver, one of our sales consultants will schedule a call with you to discuss your project. Following that, we conduct an on-site visit at your convenience, to assess the full scope of your needs and the project itself. Once we digest all the details from our visit, we develop and send you a custom proposal, explaining how we plan to get the job done right.
