1. Ontario Energy Rebates

“We believe in making high-efficiency upgrades affordable for middle to low-income families while helping consumers have a positive impact on our community and environment.”

Ontario Energy Rebates is a program that is free to all Canadian homeowners and boasts 247,409 rebates disbursed in 2021, for a total of 956,801 happy clients served. Impressive!

How Ontario Energy Rebates Work:

  1. First, register your home to access Ontario Energy Rebates.
  2. Schedule a full home energy assessment.
  3. Get your energy report & rebate qualification.
  4. Receive maximum government and utility rebates available.
Among their available upgrades, Ontario Energy Rebates offers incentives to replace your windows and doors with energy-efficient models. Specifically, they offer $40 for every rough window opening that is replaced with an EnergyStar model, with total rebates available up to $5,000!

2. Canada Greener Homes Grant

“The Canada Greener Homes Grant provides funds for home evaluations and for retrofits, to a total of $5,600. Homeowners are eligible for up to $600 total for the cost of pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluations and for up to $5,000 total for the implementation of eligible retrofits such as home insulation, windows and doors, and air sealing.”

  2. Register and book your pre-retrofit evaluation
  3. Plan, document, and complete your home retrofits
  4. Book your post-retrofit evaluation and apply for reimbursement
  5. Receive your reimbursement
This program was implemented by the Canadian federal government in May of 2021 and has been extremely well-received. Get your name on the list now!

The Home Efficiency Rebates offered to existing residential Enbridge customers include upgrades on insulation, air sealing, new windows/doors, water heaters, boilers, furnaces, and home energy assessments.

How The Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate Works:

  1. Schedule a home energy assessment
  2. Receive a customized report with recommended upgrades
  3. Complete at least 2 eligible upgrades (3 if you’re replacing your furnace)
  4. Schedule a follow-up energy assessment
  5. Receive your rebate cheque within 12 weeks (you will also be reimbursed up to $600 for the cost of the assessment)

If you complete at least two of the recommended upgrades, you’ll get money back. Plus bonus rebates the more upgrades you complete!


4. City Of Toronto Home Energy Loan Program (HELP)

“In 2022, the City will be launching an enhanced Home Energy Loan Program with additional offerings and an interest rate as low as zero percent*. The 0% financing will only be applicable to new projects – i.e. projects that have not yet begun as of the enhanced program launch date. The anticipated launch date is in the second quarter of 2022.”
